The last post was the introduction to 'Death Match.' I didn't begin posting from my novel with it for a very simple reason. Reading what you read below about Japanese criminals would indicate that the novel is classified in the crime or mystery genre. Not at all. We return to criminal activities at times during the novel, but 95% of it is about pro wrestling, specifically what it is like for a newcomer placed among veterans who test his resolve from beginning to end.

As serious as the introduction seems, much of the story is a look at the inner circle of pro wrestling and the men and women who work at it. It was initially meant to be amusing. With no social media as we have today, a writer had to submit his manuscript to the major publishing houses and hope to be accepted and have his or her work published. I did submit it to half a dozen, got two responses that they at least read the manuscript and liked it, but their stats told them wrestling fans don’t buy books.

All these years later, I realize they were talking about best-selling books in the top ten on the open market—that very likely didn’t have one word about pro wrestling in them! Even so, that was before the internet and social media, which makes our pro wrestling literary niche, though small and select, much larger, indeed, worldwide.

This is about process, sharing with you my labor and literary history. Too long gets boring and unread, so I’ll share some more steps from there to here with you tomorrow. Warmest regards, stay safe and well, best from Bob
